Alka Yagnik dons the cap of the Mahaguru in this season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs. She was the mentor of the girls' team in the 2009 season and has judged several seasons in the past.
Alka Yagnik is formally trained in Indian classical music. She began singing at the age of six for Calcutta Radio. Alka Yagnik started singing for Hindi films with Payal Ki Jhankaar (1979). Then Laawaris (1981) followed and the song Mere Angane Mein gave her instant recognition.
It was the song Ek Do Teen from the film Tezaab (1988) that finally saw Alka's name soaring up the popularity charts. The dance number featuring a young Madhuri Dixit also fetched Alka Yagnik a Filmfare Award for best playback-singer.
